The Ancient Order of Hibernians (AOH) is America’s oldest Irish Catholic Fraternal Organization founded in 1836 on the principles of Friendship, Unity and Christian Charity.  The AOH was started in New York to help protect and support clergy, churches, and Irish immigrants. Irish Catholic immigrant and Alexandria’s 8th Mayor (1786-1787), Col. John Fitzgerald helped establish St. Mary’s Catholic Church as the first Catholic Parish in the Commonwealth of Virginia with the help of President George Washington.  (https://stmaryoldtown.org/founding-st-mary)

The Frank Herbert-Pat Cady Alexandria Division was established in 2011 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. We invite all practicing Catholic men (16 or older) of Irish heritage to seek admittance by joining us at our next meeting.
